From Florida (East Coast):
Take I-95N until intersection I-26 in South Carolina. Go on
I-26 until intersecting I-85 (near Spartanburg). Continue on
I-85 for approximately 7 miles until you come to the US 221
exit (Chesnee exit). Take 221 North towards Linville, North
Carolina. In Linville, take US 105 North for approximately 5
miles. Intersect US 184 North (turn left) for approximately
5 miles, which brings you into Banner Elk. At the traffic
light take a left, continuing on 184N, go about 2 tenths of
a mile and veer off to the right (184N continued). Start up
the mountain and go about 3.5 miles until you crest the
mountain. At the Pinnacle Inn sign take a right onto
Elderberry Ridge Road. Follow the road back and bear left at
the next sign.
From Florida (West Coast):
Take I-75 North to Atlanta. Follow directions below from
Atlanta.
From Atlanta:
Take I-85 North to Spartanburg, South Carolina. Just beyond
Spartanburg take the US 221 exit. Follow US 221N until
Linville, North Carolina. See directions above from
Linville.
From Charlotte:
Take I-77 North to I-40 at Statesville, North Carolina.
Continue on I-40 West towards Hickory. Near Hickory take US
321 North to Boone, North Carolina. In Boone, turn left onto
US 105 South. Take 105 for about 12 miles, and then at the
traffic light turn right onto 184 North. Follow 184N
approximately 5 miles, which brings you into Banner Elk. See
directions from Banner Elk above.
From Greensboro:
Take I-40 West to Winston-Salem, and then take US 421 North
to Wilkesboro. Continue on 421N into Boone. See directions
above from Boone.
From Roanoke:
Take I-81 South (to Abington) to US 58 South (to Damascus)
to VA 91 South, to Mountain City, TN. Intersect US 421 South
to Boone, NC. See directions above from Boone.
From Knoxville:
Take I-40 East to I-81 North to I-26 South (Johnson City) to
Tennessee 67 East (go through Elizabethton) to US 321S and
19E (to Roan Mountain). Take 19E until you cross the state
line, and then take a left onto US 194 North just past Elk
Park, North Carolina. Take a left turn onto 184N when it
intersects with 194N. Follow directions to top of the
mountain. |
